I don't care.
We need to raise teachers’ salaries, but we should cut the number of local administrators. We have a bloated education bureaucracy. Early-childhood reading programs should be better funded, but they should be consolidated.
The way to improve education is to increase teachers’ salaries, improve their working conditions, reduce class size and spend more money on early-childhood programs. Vouchers for private schools would be a misuse of money.
Without question, this should expire. Giving more money to the politicians right now is not the answer. They’ll just spend it.
It would be great to let this expire, but it should depend on how North Carolina’s economy is functioning and what deficits we face. We should work within the economy and the revenues we have.
We need $1.2 billion more tax cuts in corporate-income and personal-income taxes, and any increase in any statewide taxes would be vetoed.
Small businesses could use more tax cuts, and there shouldn’t be an increase in statewide taxes. But we don't want to have huge deficits because of tax cuts.
